Santé Montréal provides health and social services in Montreal.
The “Director’s Space” addresses topics of concern to public health including social inequities in health.
The Urban Environment and Health section of the Montréal Public Health Department made a presentation on their Approach to Reducing the Public Health Impacts of the Built Environment to the Alberta Health Services Speaker Series in January, 2010. The slide presentation makes use of graphic mapping of various health risks. The presentation describes the cycle of surveillance, analysis of determinants of health, influencing public policy, community mobilization, education, intervention, and evaluation.
An example of environmental public health as a determinant of health and health equity is the Montréal Public Health Department‘s question and answer page covering the issue of lead in water. Although the risk of lead in drinking water is not a whole population issue, it may apply to certain neighborhoods.
