Cochrane Methods Equity
Cochrane Methods Equity is jointly registered with the Cochrane and Campbell Collaborations - independent organizations based in Ottawa, and London, England. Together, the group supports and encourages authors of systematic reviews to describe the effect of “[interventions] upon the disadvantaged and/or their ability to reduce socioeconomic inequalities in health and to promote their use to the wider community.” The equity methods group was established in 2005.
In 2012, the group published an extension for the PRISMA systematic review guidelines. The “PRISMA-E” document is intended to improve reporting of aspects related to health inequities. It is accompanied by an instructional YouTube webinar.
- A Migrant Health Subgroup was recently established to focus on health inequalities of international migrant populations.
