Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives
The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) is an independent, non-partisan research institute concerned with issues of social and economic justice. CCPA has a national office and five provincial offices; including offices in BC, MB, NS, ON, and SK.
CCPA web content is updated often and can be searched by clicking on inequality and poverty under Issues.
The CCPA undertakes alternative budgets at the federal and provincial levels. For example, Striking a Healthy Balance, the Nova Scotia 2011 alternative budget, spotlights the World Health Organization goal: “achieving health equity within a generation is achievable, it is the right thing to do, and now is the right time to do it” (p. 1). The Alternative Budget has an emphasis on addressing the determinants of health across government.
