Canadian Institutes of Health Research
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) integrates research through an interdisciplinary structure made up of 13 “virtual” institutes. Through the institutes, CIHR provides funding to researchers and trainees across Canada.
The Institute of Population and Public Health (IPPH) aims to improve the health of populations and promote health equity. IPPH recently awarded funding to several projects on public health, reducing health disparities, and health equity.
CIHR supports a number of determinants of health and health equity research chairs, including some related to applied public health, sex and gender, and a chair jointly sponsored with CHSRF on Community Approaches and Health Inequalities.
