Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers (NALSW) is a regulatory body and professional association for social work in the province.

  • The association submitted a brief on an Early Childhood Learning Strategy to the Department of Education in October 2010. The brief takes a whole-of-government approach: “…social workers agree that early childhood learning requires a coordinated approach across several government departments to ensure that the social determinants of health are adequately addressed.”

  • In November 2010, the NALSW submitted a brief recommending improvements to the provincial Poverty Reduction Strategy. The brief called for community collaboration and collection of qualitative data to measure success of the provincial strategy.
