Niagara Region Public Health addresses public health needs through health protection, disease prevention, health promotion, and injury prevention programs. Niagara Region Public Health consists of 12 municipalities with a total population of 427,421 residents.

  • Niagara Region Public Health maintains a Social Determinants of Health page as part of the Health Story of Niagara and notes that, “The determinants of health underpin our public health planning, strategies, and program delivery.” The Health Story of Niagara includes a video that contextualizes the social determinants of health for Niagara.
  • In 2010, Niagara Region Public Health conducted a “Champions” initiative to build capacity of staff to address the social determinants of health.
