Quajigiartiit Health Research Centre
The Quajigiartiit Health Research Centre’s (AHRN-NU) goal is to enable health research to be conducted locally, by northerners, and with communities in a supportive, safe, culturally-sensitive and ethical environment. The organization promotes theinclusion of both Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit knowledge) and western sciences in addressing health concerns, creating healthy environments, and improving the health of Nunavummiu. The website material is available in both English and Inuktitut.
The organization is currently working on a Knowledge Sharing Project to translate evidence into policy and programs to address food insecurity in Nunavut.
- As part of their Child and Youth Mental Health Intervention, Research and Community Advocacy Project the organization published “Child and Youth Mental Health Services in Nunavut Needs Assessment” in 2010. The needs assessment describes how mental health is impacted by a number of key social determinants of health.
