EQUIP Equity Essentials
Developed by the EQUIP Pathways team in collaboration with experts, including those with lived experiences of inequities, the “EQUIP Equity Essentials” toolkit contains many resources tailored to practice with key messages on six equity domains relating to health and social services, as well as short videos of people with lived experience of inequities and other experts.
The equity-related domains include:
- Equity-oriented health care
- Trauma and violence informed care
- Anti-racism and cultural safety
- Chronic pain
- Substance use health
- Substance use stigma
The “EQUIP Equity Essentials” were developed in partnership with Community Addictions Peer Support Association (CAPSA), Kílala Lelum (Urban Indigenous Health and Healing Cooperative) and Vancouver Community Action Team.
Also available is the online course "Equipping for Equity,” designed to enhance the understanding and capacity of primary health care providers and health care leaders to deliver equity-oriented care. Registration is free, funded through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Public Health Agency of Canada. Topics presented in the nine “Equipping for Equity” online modules include:
