Equity and Inclusion Toolkit

Ce document est aussi disponible en français.

This equity and inclusion toolkit created by the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU) seeks to build capacity within Member Organizations and the CFNU to address and minimize gaps relating to “race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexuality, ability and Indigeneity.” The toolkit provides common questions and defines appropriate language to enhance equity and inclusion knowledge.

The toolkit focuses on the following equity-seeking groups:

  • Young workers – 30 years and younger
  • LGBTQ2S+ workers
  • Indigenous workers
  • Racialized workers
  • Workers with disabilities.

Practical and Action-Based Resource

This toolkit is unique as it also provides practical examples of activities and workshops to enhance equity and inclusion. It can be applicable to various levels within organizations: frontline practitioner, decision maker, researcher, and students. Being explicit in naming and addressing specific groups experiencing inequities allows for organizations to be intentional about the work to decrease those inequities. This is an important resource for public health as it recognizes and acts against systemic discrimination.

Use this resource to:

  1. Facilitate discussion to enhance understanding of equity and inclusion within an organization
  2. Develop practical skills to act on equity and inclusion
  3. Guide action to address organizational inequities through the interactive activities and workshop templates
