This book explores the connection between health and how various types of oppression including capitalism, colonialism, and other structural forces perpetuate health inequities at all levels.
The authors of this paper argue that a sole focus on inequities in population health outcomes between Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous peoples will not address underlying drivers of power and inequity including settler colonialism and racism.
The results of this 2021 scoping review support the argument that immigration status is a foundational and overlooked determinant of health for people who are undocumented or without status in Canada. It provides important and timely recommendations for practice, policy, and research.
