This report chapter from the National Advisory Council on Poverty describes the impact of COVID-19 on people living in poverty in Canada, including inadequacy of benefits, challenges working in caring professions, inadequacy of long term care, housing and homelessness. Additional challenges related to specific social and structural determinants of health, as well as considerations for recovery are also explored. The chapter exists within a broader report based on data from 2019 Canadian Income Survey (CIS) on the status and impacts of poverty in Canada.
