Bringing light & heat: A health equity guide for healthcare transformation & accountability
This resource is available in English only.
This 37-page guide outlines a path for healthcare leaders interested in transforming their relationships and infrastructures to achieve racial justice and health equity. The document provides a starting point to steer a healthcare organization’s journey.
The guide offers a high-level framework, a proposed circular process to guide action and a sample of key strategic goals and practices. The guide is anchored around six guiding values for transformational change: health equity; racial equity; power-sharing; systems change; accountability and comprehensiveness.
Intended to be a catalyst to support long-term efforts and stamina in health and racial equity, the guide is divided into two main sections: bringing the light - commit, own and advance health and race equity; and, bringing the heat - measure and hold the organization accountable. The guide is further stratified into various intervention and practice levels, from person to societal.
