The determinants of health: A curated list
Cette ressource est également disponible en français.
The Canadian public health community often grapples with question such as: What influences health? What factors are at the root of systemic, unjust and avoidable differences in health? How do different groups of determinants, such as the structural, social and ecological, fit together?
To support public health learners — particularly early career practitioners and researchers — explore these questions, the NCCDH has curated this list of 13 grey literature reports and peer-reviewed articles.
The selected resources are divided into four categories:
- Structural and social determinants of health
- Ecological determinants of health
- Political and economic determinants of health
- Determinants of Indigenous Peoples’ health
Use this resource to
- Gain a broad understanding of how the factors that influence health have been conceptualized
- Explore Indigenous perspectives on the determinants of health for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in Canada
- Understand and act on the interrelated structural, social and ecological factors that influence health
