Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity; Language Services; and community-academic partnerships identified and implemented a series of equity strategies as part of their COVID-19 pandemic response. The result was a health equity operational framework that other health organizations can use. Leveraging the work of the National Consensus Panel on Emergency Preparedness and Cultural Diversity, the resulting equity-focused framework includes the following areas of action: organizational policy development to support health equity-focused clinical operations and patient care; public health and patient-focused COVID-19 information; staff and community support and engagement; and data collection, monitoring and evaluation.
